或曰：人之壽夭稟父母，父精母血盛衰不同。故人之壽亦異，其有生之初受氣之兩盛者，當得上中之壽。受氣之偏盛者，當得中下之壽。受氣之兩衰者，能保養僅得下壽。不然多夭折。雖然又不可以常理拘泥論也。或風寒暑濕之感，於外饑飽勞役之傷乎。內豈能一一盡乎。所稟之元氣，而終其天年也耶。知命君子要在修身，以俟之而已。

論同生辰命同異

余紀縉紳與凡民，命同者不能悉數。姑就縉紳論，如黃懋官侍郎，與申價副使命同，黃死子兵禍，申死牖下，申先黃死，官之大小又不論也。朱衡與李庭龍命同，朱發科壬辰，李發科癸丑，朱官至尚書，李止大參，壽又不永，其子孫之多寡賢否，又不論也。

萬某與饒才命同，萬舉進士，官至卿貳，饒止舉人，官至太守，然饒多子而萬則少，又萬以謫戌死而饒則否，其壽夭得喪又難論也。三河王且齋兄弟同産，而功名先後亦自不同，況天下之大，九洲之廣，兆民之衆，其八字同者何限，又烏可以例論耶！

餘記下說，說一走卒與魯公命同，魯公遇朝廷有大恩寵，則此卒受大責罰，魯公有小喜慶，則此卒有小譴責，其相反有如此者。又某家生子與魯公命同，前後差六十年，術者以魯公之命證之，其家大喜，謂他日必貴，自孩童時恣其所爲，後遂酗酒，遊蕩醉死于水，年止十九。

又記《樂善錄》，太學二士人命同，又同發解過省，約就相近遊宦，庶彼此得知災福，後一人任鄂州教授，一人任黃州教授，未幾黃州者死，鄂州者爲治後事，祝曰：“我與公生年月日時同，出處同，公先舍我去，使我今死已後公七日矣，若有靈，宜托夢以告。”其夜果夢云：“我生於富貴，享用過當，故死，公生於寒微，未得享用，故活。”後鄂官至典郡，豈非有所警惕享用不過之所致乎？

又吾郡有顔守芳生員，與廠民袁大綱命同，顔貧喜富，顔多子袁僅二子，顔在而袁已死，顔讀書守禮，有危疾而能自保，竟歲貢出身，袁則反是。合是數人觀之，豈所生之家不同，而各人所習之業又異，其保身慎修，剋儉長年，在吾人自求多福耳，若曰我命該富貴長壽，而不修德進學，驕恣不法，豈命之所以爲命也耶！

分析：
乙木生于申月，叶落花飞，虽然通根在寅卯，但天干一派火土泄身，虽无辛金之克，却坐下巳火泄身，且寅申冲，根基动摇。此造元神很弱。但因为有根，故不能放弃自我，不能论从格。
乙木仁德，丙火文明，且丙火伤官有根，故机智文明，多才多艺，但官杀暗伤，纪律观念不强，宜多加强。
戊土正财通根寅巳申，已经很旺了，故父亲疼爱有加，而正印深藏于申金之中，母爱稍欠，此造当用温润之壬水，故宜采取慈母严父亲之态度，否则爱之反而害之。饮食方面宜多食用蔬菜水果饮料，以有形之水补无形之水。
而寅申冲，是否可以看做父母之相处似有摩擦，母亲多忍让。此壬水被冲去，壬应在胫，膀胱，宜多小心。
