《Angels系列之Infinite Angels》

Inspired by a passage from The Woman Warrior by Maxine Hong Kingston.
"I saw two people made of gold dancing the earth's dances. They turned so perfectly that together they were the axis of the earth's turning. They were light; they were molten, changing gold [...] Before my eyes, gold bells shredded into gold tassles that fanned into two royal capes that softened into lions' fur. Manes grew tall into feathers that shone -- became light rays. Then the dancers danced the future -- a machine-future -- in clothes I had never seen before. I am watching the centuries pass in moments because suddenly I understand time, which is spinning and fixed like the North Star. And I understand how working and hoeing are dancing; how peasant clothes are golden, as king's clothes are golden; how one of the dancers is always a man and the other a woman.

"The man and woman grow bigger and bigger. So Bright. All light. They are tall angels in two rows. They have high white wings on their backs. Perhaps there are infinate angels; perhaps I see two angels in the consecutive moments."

"There are other kinds of ghosts than those of the dead," she said. Her lantern was so dim amidst these towering trees. The light seemed to be swallowed before it even had a chance to pierce the heave blanket of darkness. "We also," she said softly, almost reverently, "call this the Place of Remembrance."

"...Floating in the sea like a bright pearl upon its waters, sits the Isle of Towers. The Isle is half mist, half legend. There are sailors who claim to have been there...but these are the men who are already mad from having heard the songs of the sirens in those fierce northern seas. They speak of eldritch maidens, and glorious cities built upon cliffs that tower above the waters, but which have no anchor to land such as continents and islands have. And most glorious of all is the Isle of Towers, where lives the prince of the sea." A mixed-media creation, this is. The image in the center was a pencil sketch, and the border was an inked design, painted with photoshop.

Theirs is a death of wondrous renewal. Their life does not fade. They do not grasp for the fleeing minutes and seconds of lives that are too short. They have time, for they are older than a human mind can conceive of. They remember Rome. They remember Atlantis. They remember far beyond. And only when they are ready, do they will life away, with the sonorous force of their being. And from their remains the forests of the otherworld spring to life.... It was this otherworld that she glimpsed in her dream, and the sight of it made her cry though she could not understand why."

They remember all that can be, and will be, and they know the name of every Ocean across any world that ever dared to spark into existence from the minds of gods or mortals, and they know the age of all the Hills of the grandest vistas of dreams."
