This year on your relationship has a good start and you must grab it. Remember not to "spoil" him. Both of you can travel together or enjoy reading and discussion on various topic of issues.

The career path faced subordinate's and colleague's problem where communication and understanding is not really mutually arrived on both sides. You may need to slow down a bit on any changes you may intend to do for the benefit of the company, as the plan may good but without the support from others and right timing, it can be a disastrous to you.
Since you just changed the job, tried to hold on and make above changes rather than changing again. The reason is to work overseas, this place may provide you an environment to kick start.
To travel working overseas has high possibility and also good to you to resolve any jealousy or difficult events in your work place.
